Advantage
Steel sheet piles are a prime solution for most earth and water retention techniques. Installation is typically performed by vibratory hammers or impact drivers, pressing the piles into the ground. Care must be taken during driving to maintain alignment and ensure the integrity of the interlocks, especially when encountering obstructions or hard soil.
Sheet piles are structural sections, typically hot-rolled (per ASTM A328) or cold-formed from high-strength structural grade carbon steel (such as S355 or Q355). They are easily identified by their distinct “U” or “Z” shape profiles and, most importantly, their continuous interlocking system on each edge. This interlock allows individual piles to connect, forming a continuous, watertight wall.
Offering an excellent strength-to-weight ratio and high durability, sheet piling is the ideal candidate for both temporary and permanent structures. Their ability to be extracted and reused makes them a highly cost-effective and sustainable solution. Common applications include cofferdams, deep foundations, retaining walls, port and harbor construction, and marine bulkheads.
